South Australian War and Civil Medal Researchers (SAWCMR) was established in 2007. Its founder Tamara Wasley decided on establishing the business because of two main reasons:
1. Her grandfather was a soldier during the Second World War and before his passing she didn’t have the opportunity to hear his story.
2. Tamara’s husband served in The Australian Regular Army and she believed it was important for her and their children to know what he had done whilst serving his country in East Timor in 1999 & again in 2002.
The business was formed as a way of "Keeping their Spirit Alive".
SAWCMR is about helping you to understand your loved ones service whether it be in the Military - Navy, Army or Air Force. We source, collect, interpret and collate service history papers on individuals who have served in the armed forces (which includes service records, dates, where they served, who they served with, medals awarded along with a description of the medals earned, promotions & a possible photo of enlistment etc all of which are placed in a presentation folder for you to keep*). We present this information along with your medals, photos, badges, flags & any other memorabilia in a prestigious frame. These frames will be treasured by all. A great way to commemorate service personnel & for loved ones to acknowledge & learn about their families' service history. Our frames provide an historical overview that will last for generations to come.
*Depending upon availability.
SAWCMR can also source replica medals (including medals for the Civil Service - Police, Fire or Ambulance etc.), insignia and other memorabilia as part of its service. We pride ourselves in mounting your medals in the traditional form of using Buckram. Buckram is a ridged fabric which we fold and compress until it is regulation length and thickness according to the Army Standing Orders of Dress which allows the wearer to proudly display their medals traditionally. We can mount original & replica full size and miniature medals at an additional cost.
Medal entitlement. Are you or a loved one entitled to a medal that you are not aware of? Contact Us for more information.
